Standing in over four acres of secluded gardens and mature woodland, the hotel started life as the Shooting Lodge for Closeburn Castle. Now home to the Moore family, it combines the welcoming ambience of the best Country House Hotels with the comfort expected of a much loved family home.
Dining, whether in the restaurant overlooking the gardens, or in the cosy bar with its welcoming open fire is always a pleasure. All the food is prepared with the greatest of care from the homemade organic bread to the ice-cream. There are wonderful walks, historic Castles, vast panoramas and many great outdoor pursuits in and around Dumfries.
Pony trekking: a great way to explore the local countryside from pony rides for children, to one and a half hour or three hour treks. As well as lessons for beginners and experienced riders, & cross country eventing. Our local riding stables has it all just a short walk from the Hotel. There are a selection of Horses and Ponies to suite all abilities of rider, and very experienced instructors.
